New Providence Police arrest drug, armed robbery, auto theft and firearm suspects

OFFICERS OF SOUTHERN STORM MAKE DRUG ARREST

Officers of the Southern Division impounded a white Honda Accord after discovering a large quantity of suspected marijuana inside the vehicle.

According to police reports officers of the Southern Division were on routine patrol on Deveaux Street around 9:20 pm on Friday 17th February, 2012 when they uncovered the drugs.

The drugs weighed nine (9) pounds and have an estimated street value of nine thousand ($9,000.00) dollars.

Police are following significant leads into this matter. Active police investigations continue.

CENTRAL DIVISION OFFICERS ARREST ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT

A 29 year old male of Hampster Street is being questioned by police in connection with an armed robbery.

Initial police reports indicate that around 5:25 pm on Saturday 17th February, 2012officers of the Central Division were on routine patrol on Virginia Street, when they observed two (2) men, with suspected stolen items, running on Virginia Street.It is reported that the culprits on seeing the officers dropped the items and attempted to flee.

Officers pursued the culprits and arrested one of the males. Officers also recovered a lap top, a handbag which contained jewelry, cash and other personal effects.Police are actively in search of the second suspect. Active police investigations continue.

POLICE ARREST MAN FOR STEALING FROM A VEHICLE

Police are questioning a 29 year old male reference to stealing from a vehicle.Officers of the Central Division arrested the man around 12:30 pm on Saturday 17thFebruary, 2012.

Initial police reports indicate that officers of the Tourism Police Unit (TPU) were on routine patrol on Parliament Street in the area of Victoria Gardens when they observed a man standing near a Toyota vehicle, acting suspiciously.

Officers approached the vehicle and observed that the interior was ransacked. Officers also discovered a bag in the area of the suspect which contained a laptop and other personal efforts.

The male, a resident of Quakoo Street, was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.

OFFICERS OF THE CENTRAL DETECTIVE UNIT MAKE FIREARM ARREST

Two men, ages 27 and 20 years including a 17 year old juvenile male, are in police custody after they were found in possession of a handgun and ammunition.

Initial police reports indicate that around 12:45 am on Sunday 19th February, 2012officers of the Central Detective Unit were on routine patrol on Davis Street off Thompson Boulevard when they conducted a search of a Honda Accord and discovered the items.

Active police investigations continue.
