SUSPECT CAUGHT IN STOLEN VEHICLE WITH FIREARM
A 29 year old male of Nassau East north is in police custody after he was found driving a stolen vehicle.According to police reports, four (4) hours after a black Ford Equinox was reported stolen from a club at West Bay Street, police arrested a 29 year old male after he was found driving the SUV.
Initial police reports indicate that shortly after 7:00 am on Sunday 29th January, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on East Street when they received information that the SUV was seen through Oodle Corner.Officers proceeded to Oodle Corner where they observed the vehicle being driven by the male. It is reported that the driver on seeing the police attempted to evade them and crashed into a nearby wall.
Officers pursued the suspect caught up with him and conducted a search of the vehicle where they discovered a handgun.
Active police investigations continue.
POLICE CONTINUE TO CITE TRAFFIC OFFENDERS
Police here in New Providence, in keeping with the Commissioner of Police PolicingPlan, “Enforcing the Rules of the Road”, continue to issue traffic tickets to motorists whofail to adhere to traffic rules.
During the past week, police throughout the capital cited three hundred and eighty-nine (389) drivers for various traffic infractions and placed three hundred and forty-six (346) matters before the traffic courts.
Some of the offences for which persons were cited include: unnecessary use of horn, driving in the wrong direction on a one Way Street, failing to keep left, unlicensed and uninspected vehicles, and failing to change ownership.
Police would like to encourage members of the public to ensure that their vehicles are in good working condition, as police will continue with their efforts.
CRIME TIP: As a citizen you can assist in the fight against crime. Become acquainted with your neighbours and be the eyes and ears for each other.
