CENTRAL DIVISION CONDUCT OPERATION “FIRESTORM”
In keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan “Tackling Crime & Enforcing the Rules of the Road”, officers of the Central Division launched Operation “Firestorm”.
The operation was held between the hours of 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Friday 3rd February, 2012 and resulted in thirty-nine (39) drivers being cited for various traffic infractions such as tinted windows, unlicensed and uninspected vehicle, unnecessary use of horn and parking in a no parking area.
Additionally, a 26 year old male of Adderley Street off West Street was arrested after officers conducted a search of his residence and discovered a large amount of suspected marijuana and cash, believed to be from the proceeds of the sale of drugs.
The drugs weighed four (4) pounds and have an estimated street value of four thousand ($4,000.00) dollars. Charges are expected to be filed. Active police investigations continue.
SOUTHEASTERN DIVISION CONDUCT OPERATION “RESTORE”
Eleven (11) men are in police custody after being arrested, in separate incidents, by officers of the Southeastern Division.
In keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan “Tackling Crime”, officers of the Southeastern Division (East Street South Police Station) continued with its operation, “Restore” within their divisional boundary.
The operation was held between the hours of 5:00 pm on Friday 3rd February, 2012 and 12:00 am on Saturday 04th February, 2012 and resulted in the men being arrested after executing search warrants on their homes.Ten (10) of the men were arrested reference to Dangerous Drugs and Armed Robbery and one (1) on an outstanding Warrant of Arrest.
Additionally, during the operation officers confiscated a red trail motorbike suspected of being stolen.Police are encouraging members of the public to ensure that they adhere to all laws as failure to do so, will result in you being placed before the courts.
OFFICERS OF THE SOUTHEASTERN DIVISION MAKE FIREARM ARREST
Police throughout the country, in keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan “Tackling Crime”, continue to remove illegal firearms from the streets.
Around 2:20 pm on Friday 3rd January, 2012 officers of the Southeastern Division were on routine patrol on Baillou Hill Road south, when they observed a male on a bicycle acting suspiciously.
It is reported that the male on seeing the police threw an object into nearby bushes.
Officers pursued the male, caught up with him and conducted a search of the area where they object was thrown and discovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.
The 20 year old male of Kendal Avenue was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.
