SOUTHWESTERN POLICE CONDUCT ROAD CHECKS
In keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan “Enforcing the Rules of the Road” Officers of the Southwestern Division conducted road checks on Thursday 02nd Friday, 2012 at the junction of Faith Avenue and Carmichael Road.
The operation was held between the hours of 6:00 pm and 12:00 midnight and resulted in fifty-three (53) drivers being cited for various traffic offenders such as windows of non-transparent view, having one front or rear light working unsecure load and unlicensed and uninspected vehicle.
Additionally, officers arrested three (3) males, two (2) on outstanding Warrants of Arrest and one for Assault with a deadly weapon.
CENTRAL POLICE UNCOVER LARGE QUANTITY OF AMMUNITION
A large quantity of ammunition from a high powered weapon has been removed from the streets of New Providence.
Officers of the Central Division uncovered the ammunition around 6:40 pm on Thursday 2nd February, 2012.According to police reports, officers of the Central Division acting on information went to an abandoned building off St. Albans Drive, where they uncovered the ammunition.
No one was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.
CENTRAL DIVISION CONDUCTS OPERATION
In keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan, “Tackling Crime and Enforcing the Rules of the Road”, officers of the Central Division conducted “OPERATION ENFORCER” at the junction of East Bay and Mackey Streets.The operation was held between the hours of 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Thursday 02nd February, 2012 and resulted in fifty-six (56) drivers being cited for various traffic infractions and twelve (12) people being arrested.
Ten (10) people were arrested on outstanding Warrants of Arrest, one (1) for possession of dangerous drugs and one for disorderly behavior.
Police are encouraging members of the public to abide by all laws as police will continue to enforce the law, in an effort to make this Bahamas a safer place for all.
