RBPF Nassau: Police Searching for Suspect in Overnight Shooting - Six Illegal Firearms Seized, Two Men In Custody

POLICE SEARCHING SUSPECT IN OVERNIGHT SHOOTING

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a male suspect responsible for a shooting that has left a man detained in hospital on Sunday 25th June 2017.

According to reports, shortly before 9:00pm, a man was walking on Palm Beach Street, when a male armed with a handgun approached and shot him before fleeing on foot.

Investigations are ongoing.

SIX ILLEGAL FIREARMS SEIZED, TWO MEN IN CUSTODY

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, police took two men into custody following the seizure of six illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents over a 24 – hour period.

In the first incident, around 2:00pm, on Sunday 25th June 2017, Selective Enforcement Team officers acting on information conducted a search of an abandoned building located on Woods Alley, where they uncovered a 12-guage shotgun along with a small quantity of marijuana. No one was arrested for this find.

Later that same day shortly before 10:00pm, officers assigned to the Selective Enforcement Team assisted by Mobile Division officers conducted an operation on the premises of the Sand Track located on West Bay Street, where a group of men and women were gathered. A search was conducted of a Ford Ranger vehicle, and an Austria Glock pistol, with18 rounds of ammunition was found. The male occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody. A search was also conducted of the shoreline and a .45 Austria pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition was recovered from the water.

In the final incident, around 3:00am, this morning (Monday 26th June 2017) Eastern Division officers executed a search warrant on a premises located on Romer Street, Fox Hill, where they uncovered one (1) .44 Desert Eagle Pistol with 6 rounds of ammunition, one (1) Luger Pistol, and one (1) Assault Rife. A male resident of the home was taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

WEEKLY PREVENTION CRIME TIP - If You Witness a Crime

If you see or suspect a crime is being committed, pay particular attention to the features of the offender(s) and any vehicles involved. Try to be prepared to provide at least the following about the offenders:

1. Age, complexion, height, and weight
2. Hair colour and style, beard and mustache;
3. Notable characteristics (scars, glasses, etc.)
4. Clothing description;
5. Location where last seen
6. Last known direction of travel;
7. Vehicle description and distinctive markings.

Witnesses who wish to remain anonymous may do so. It is more important that a response be dispatched as quickly as possible
