Police involved shooting in Nassau in High Creek Estates

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that has left a woman detained in hospital on Monday 23rd February 2015.

Preliminary reports indicate, that shortly before 10:00pm, an accident occurred on Carmichael Road involving a male in a wheel chair and a silver Nissan Sentra occupied by a male and female. The vehicle refused to stop at the scene and sped off. Police in the area gave chase and caught up with the vehicle in the area of High Tree Estates off Carmichael Road, where the driver attempted to knock down an officer who exited his vehicle. The officer in fear of his life, fired at the vehicle with his police service weapon. The vehicle refused to stop and sped off.

The female was later dropped off at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the left shoulder, where she remains in stable condition. Police are searching for the male driver of the vehicle.
