Police probe Nassau Village shooting - 13 arrested; 122 cited

POLICE PROBE NASSAU VILLAGE SHOOTING

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly before 4:00pm on Tuesday 6th October 2015, a man was at Matthew Street, Nassau Village, when a man armed with a handgun approached and shot him before speeding off on a black motorcycle. The man was rushed to hospital where he remains in stable condition. Police are searching for the suspect in this incident.

Investigations are ongoing.

6 ARRESTED BY POLICE SPECIAL OPERATION TEAM

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, a special police operation team conducted an operation throughout the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 6th October 2015 that resulted in the arrest of 6 persons for various offences such as, possession of dangerous drugs and armed robbery.

105 DRIVERS CITED DURING POLICE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT ISLAND-WIDE OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, officers from the Police Traffic Department conducted an island-wide operation on Tuesday 6th October 2015 that targeted wanted persons and drivers who were in breach of the Rules of the Road. The operation resulted in 105 drivers being cited for various traffic violations.

7 ARRESTED, 17 DRIVERS CITED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS DURING 24 HOURS PERIOD

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrests of seven (7) persons during the past 24 hours for various minor and major offences. Additionally, 17 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.
