RBPF: 3 firearms, stolen vehicle, drugs seized by police - 15 arrests during operation

3 MORE FIREARMS SEIZED AS POLICE 2016 ANTI-CRIME STRATEGY INTENSIFIES

Nassau, Bahamas - The early execution of the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, has led to the seizure of three (3) more illegal firearms out of the hands of criminals on Sunday 14th February 2016.

In the first incident, shortly after 1:00am, officers from the Eleuthera Division were on routine patrol in Hatchet Bay, when they conducted a search of a suspicious male and found a pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.

Then shortly after 2:00am, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team descended on a Night Club located on Crooked Island Street and Andros Avenue, where they conducted a search and found one (1) .40 pistol with 7 rounds of ammunition and one (1) 9 millimeter pistol with 9 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in this discovery.

Investigations are ongoing.

15 ARRESTED DURING FLYING SQUAD OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team conducted an operation throughout New Providence on Saturday 13th February 2016, that targeted persons wanted for various criminal offences.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 15 persons for offences such as, possession of dangerous drugs, firearms, stealing, threats of death and arm robbery.

SOUTHWESTERN DIVISION OFFICERS SEIZE DRUGS AND STOLEN VEHICLE

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, a quantity of dangerous drugs and a stolen vehicle was seized by officers from the Southwestern Division on Saturday 13th February 2016.

In the first incident, shortly after 5:00pm, officers from the Southwestern Division acting on information went to a park located east on Mermaid Boulevard, where they recovered a silver vehicle that was reported stolen.

Then later that evening, shortly before 10:00pm, officers from the Southwestern Division were on routine patrol on Mermaid Boulevard west, when the conducted a search of a suspicious male and found several packages of marijuana in his possession. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.

In the meantime, individuals with information that can lead to seizure of illegal firearms and ammunition or the arrest of those who breach the Firearms Act are being asked to call the Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) OR 1-242-300-8477 (FAMILY ISLANDS)
