RBPF: 7 arrested during DEU operation - Gunshots fired on McQuay Street - Drug Arrest

SEVEN ARRESTED DURING DEU EARLY MORNING OPERATION

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers conducted a major operation in New Providence on Friday 7th July 2017 that led to the arrest of seven persons for possession of dangerous drugs.

In the first incident, shortly after 6:00am, DEU officers on operation on Hibiscus Street executed a search warrant on home where they uncovered just over one (1) pound of marijuana. A female and two male occupants of the home were subsequently taken into custody.

In the second incident, around 6:30am, DEU officers on operation on Spikenard Road executed a search warrant on home where they uncovered eight (8) pounds of marijuana. A female and two male occupants of the home were subsequently taken into custody.

In the final incident, shortly after 10:00am, DEU officers on operation on Moncur Alley executed a search warrant on home where they uncovered just over two (2) ounces of marijuana. A female and two male occupants of the home were subsequently taken into custody.

MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Mobile Division officers took a man into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Saturday 8th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly before10:00pm, officers assigned to the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Leeward Isles East, when they conducted a search of a male who aroused their suspicion, and found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The male was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

FIREARM SEIZED


Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Selective Enforcement Team officers seized a handgun following reports of Gunshots on Sunday 9th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 1:30am, police received a report of gunshots being fired in the McQuay Street area off Nassau Street. Responding officers from the Selective Enforcement Team arrived on the scene and found a Ford F-150 truck, that was left abandoned. A search was conducted of the truck and a Smith & Wesson pistol with one round of ammunition was found. No one was arrested for this find. Investigations are ongoing.

WOMAN WANTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION ARRESTED

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Selective Enforcement officers took a woman into custody who was wanted in connection seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Saturday 8th July 2017.

According to reports, around 3:00m, officers assigned to the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information executed a search warrant on a home at Eden Street, Yellow Elder, where arrested a woman who is wanted in connection with a 2016 drug seizure in Grand Bahama.
