RBPF Arrest Report: Drug Possession, Armed Robbery, Firearm Possession, High Speed Chase

TWO FEMALES IN CUSTODY FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioners Policing Priorities for 2017, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team took two females into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Tuesday 4th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, officers assigned to the Selective Enforcement Team, executed a search warrant on a home located on Hospital Lane, where they uncovered 194 small packages of marijuana. Two female occupants of the home were taken into custody in connection with the find.

TWO MALES IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING AN ARMED ROBBERY, FIREARM SEIZED, STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED

Consistent with the Commissioners Policing Priorities for 2017, officers from the Mobile Division seized a handgun and took two men into custody following an armed robbery on Tuesday 4th July 2017.

According to report, around 11:00pm, a woman was sitting in her Honda Accord vehicle in front of a business establishment on Soldier Road, when a two men armed with a handgun approached and robbed her of her vehicle containing her handbag and cell phone before speeding off.

Mobile Division officers assisted by officers from the Selective Enforcement Team intercepted the vehicle near home on Comfort Street, with two males, who were taken into custody. The victim’s handbag and cell phone were also recovered.

FIREARM SEIZED, TWO MEN IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING HIGH- SPEED CHASE

Consistent with the Commissioners Policing Priorities for 2017, Courageous officers from the Mobile Division seized a handgun and took two men into custody following a high-speed chase on Wednesday 5th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, police received a report of two males in the Carmichael Road area, in a white Camry vehicle armed with firearms. An all points bulletin (APB) was immediately issued for the vehicle.

A few minutes later, Mobile Division officers spotted the vehicle in the Carmichael area and signaled to the driver to stop. The driver refused and sped off that resulted in a high-speed chase through several communities in New Providence. The chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop after it crashed near the Sir Sidney’s Bridge on East Bay Street. Two male suspects excited the vehicle and opened fire on the police. Police returned fire that resulted in one of the males being shot. The two male suspects were arrested and a handgun was recovered from the vehicle.

The injured suspect is detained in hospital under heavy police guard.

TWO FIREARMS SEIZED

Consistent with the Commissioners Policing Priorities for 2017, Police seized two firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Tuesday 4th July 2017.

In the first incident, shortly before 1:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit officers, acting on information conducted a search of bushes near an abandoned house located on Rosebud Street, where they uncovered an Austria Glock pistol with two rounds of ammunition.

In the second incident, shortly before 7:00pm, Southwestern Division officers, acting on information conducted a search of bushes near a park located on Marshall Road, where they uncovered an unlicensed shotgun.

No arrests were made in these two incidents.
