RBPF Nassau Crime Report: Man stabbed in local eatery - 2 shootings - 2 armed robberies - 9 arrests / 36 citations

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN TWO SHOOTING INCIDENTS

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are seeking the public’s assistance in solving two overnight shooting incidents that has left two men detained in hospital.

In the first incident, shortly after 10:00pm on Saturday 8th November 2014, a man was walking on Key West Street, when a man in a white Suzuki Swift vehicle armed with a handgun shot him in the arm and chest before speeding off. The victim was transported to hospital, where he is detained in serious condition.

In the second incident, shortly after 1:00am on Sunday 9th November 2014, the victim along with another man was driving in his Honda vehicle on Wulff Road, when they heard the sound of a gunshot. The victim then realized that he was shot to the lower back. The victim was transported to hospital, where he isdetained in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATE STABBING INCIDENT

According to reports, shortly before 6:30pm on Saturday 8th November 2014, the victim was at a eatery located on Soldier Road, when a man asked him for money. The victim refused and the man stabbed him to the side before fleeing on foot.

The victim drove to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING TWO ARMED ROBBERIES

In the first incident, shortly after 12:30am on Sunday 9th November 2014, a woman was walking on Robinson Road, when three men armed with handguns robbed her of her handbag containing personal items before fleeing on foot.

In the second incident, shortly after 2:00am on Sunday 9th November 2014, a man was parked in his silver 2009 Honda Accord vehicle license number228519 at a service station on Carmichael Road, when two men in a maroon Honda Accord vehicle pulled up and robbed him of his vehicle before speeding off. Investigations are ongoing.

9 ARRESTED DURING POLICE ISLAND-WIDE OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s 2014 Policing Priorities a large contingent of police officers under the command of Chief Superintendent Theophilus Cunningham carried out an overnight island-wide operation in New Providence.

The operation was aimed at disrupting crime groups and targeting persons involved in criminal activities, such and Drugs and Firearms, Persons wanted for various criminal offences, Prolific Offenders, Persons wanted for Outstanding Court Warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws.

During the operation, 9 persons were arrested for various major and minor offences, while 36 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.
