RBPF CDU operation nets murder suspect & 3 firearms - Shotgun found in abandoned house - 22 arrests

MAJOR CDU OPERATION NETS THREE FIREARMS AND A MURDER SUSPECT

(Nassau, Bahamas) - Consistent with the Commissioners Policing Priorities for 2015, a team of officers from the Central Detective Unit conducted an operation overnight that resulted in the seizure of three firearms and the arrest of a murder suspect.

Shortly after 12:00am this morning the operation team descended on a bar located at Augusta Street, where they arrested a 29 – year old male who is wanted for a murder that occurred at Augusta Street on Tuesday 24th February 2015. The officers also found a loaded handg un in the suspect’s waist containing 16 live rounds of ammunition and 3 ounces of marijuana in his pants pocket.

During a search of the bar the officers found two additional handguns along with 24 live rounds of ammunition.

POLICE RECOVER SHOTGUN

According to reports, around 1:00pm on Wednesday 4th March 2015, Police acting on intelligence went to an abandoned house located at Laird Street, where they uncovered a shotgun. No one was arrested for this discovery. The operation was under the command of Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle.

22 ARRESTED DURING TWO SEPARATE POLICE OPERATIONS

Police are reporting the arrest of 22 persons in separate operations conducted by officers from the Southeastern and Southwestern Divisions on Tuesday 3rd March 2015.During the operation conducted by Southeastern Division officers, 8 persons were arrested for various offences such as house breaking, threats of death, house breaking and outstanding court warrants.

During the operation conducted by Southwestern Division officers, 14 persons were arrested for various offences such as, house breaking, stolen vehicle and possession of dangerous drugs.The Southeastern operation was under the command of Superintendent Maxine Leary-Rolle and the Southwestern operation was under the command of Superintendent Matthew Edgecombe.
