RBPF Crime Report: Homicide victim identified - Suspect shot by police - Over 60 arrests made

Nassau, The Bahamas - (Armed Robbery Suspects Shot by Police, Handgun Seized) Two adult male arm robbery suspects who engaged the police on Wednesday 31st December 2014 are detained in hospital under heavy police guard.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, a man drove his vehicle to a tire shop located on Minnie Street to repair four of his tires, when two men armed with a handgun attempted to rob him. The victim fled on foot and was pursued by the two men who fired several shots at him.

Police officers who were on patrol in the area, confronted the suspects who fired several shots at them. The police returned fire hitting two of the suspects and recovered a handgun from them. The two suspects were transported to hospital where they remain in stable condition under heavy police guard.Police later arrested another adult male in connection with this incident.Investigations are ongoing.

Murder Suspect Among Four Arrested by Flying Squad - A man wanted for questioning reference to the murder of a 17 year old female that occurred on 21stDecember 2014 was among four persons arrested by officers from the Flying Squad last night for a number of serious crimes.Arrested were:A 26 year old male of Hamster Road for questioning reference to Murder. A 35 year old male of Labour Street for questioning reference to Armed Robbery.  Two males ages 34 and 28 of Clifton Street for questioning reference to Stolen Vehicle.

6 Arrested by Mobile Division During 24 Hour Period - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2014, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrests of six (6) persons during the past 24 hours for various minor and major offences.

Gun Seized - According to reports, around 5:30pm on Tuesday 30th December 2014, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence went to an open lot located at Eneas Street, where they uncovered a shotgun. No one was arrested for this discovery.

Latest Homicide Victim Identified - The man shot and killed at Matthew Street, Nassau Village on Tuesday 30th December 2014 has been identified as 29 – year old Randy McNeil of Butler Street, Nassau Village.

Operation Nets 51 Arrests  - Police are reporting the arrest of 51 persons for questioning reference to a number of serious crimes such armed robbery, firearms, drugs and house breaking during two separate anti-crime operations conducted throughout New Providence yesterday.

The operations which are consistent with the Commissioner’s 2014 Policing Priorities targeted persons involved in criminal activities, such and drugs and firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences, prolific offenders, persons wanted for outstanding court warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws.

During the first operation conducted yesterday morning a total of 10 persons were arrested. Chief Superintendent Ashton Greenslade led this operation.

During the second operation conducted last night a total of 41 persons were arrested. Chief Superintendents Theophilus Cunningham and Clayton Fernander led this operation.
