RBPF Nassau: Drug suspects among 34 arrests - Firearm seized

DRUG SUSPECTS AMONG 25 PERSONS ARRESTED DURING POLICE OVERNIGHT OPERATION

Several drugs suspects are among 25 persons arrested by police as their anti-crime operation under the command of Chief Superintendent Clayton Fernander intensified last night.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner's 2015 Policing Priorities, targeted persons involved in criminal activities, such as drugs and firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences, prolific offenders, persons wanted for outstanding court warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws.

During the operation police acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Periwinkle Alley off Kemp Road, where they found 100 small packages of marijuana and $1,152.00 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime. Two adult males and one female were taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

The operation team acting on intelligence also went to Peru Street, where they also arrested a male for possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply.

Twenty-five (25) persons in total were arrested for various offences that include, stealing, immigration violation, questioning reference to possession of firearm and possession of dangerous drugs.

POLICE SEIZE ANOTHER FIREARM OUT OF THE HANDS OF CRIMINALS

POLICE are pleased to report the seizure of another illegal handgun off the streets of New Providence on Friday 20th February 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, officers from the Southwestern Division were on patrol on Mermaid Boulevard East when they brought a suspicious vehicle with three men to a stop. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a 9mm pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition. The three suspects were taken into custody for questioning.

HOUSEBREAKING AND DRUG SUSPECT ARRESTED BY SOUTHWESTERN DIVISION OFFICERS

According to reports, shortly after 6:00am on Saturday 21st February 2015, a team of officers from the Southwestern Division acting on intelligence went to Allen Drive off Carmichael Road, where they arrested a 26 – year old male who was wanted for housebreaking and stealing. During the arrest, the officers found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. Additionally, the officers discovered that the suspect had breach his bail conditions.

9 ARRESTED DURING SOUTHWESTERN DIVISION OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, Southwestern Division officers conducted an operation in the division on Friday 20th February 2015 that targeted persons wanted for various criminal offences.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 9 persons for armed robbery, stolen vehicle, housebreaking and stealing.

The operation was under the command of Superintendent Matthew Edgecombe.
