RBPF Nassau: 3 armed robberies overnight - Operation nets 23 arrests / 133 citations

ISLANDWIDE ANTI-CRIME OPERATION NETS 23 ARRESTS, 133 MOTORISTS CITED

Nassau,  Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2014, police conducted an island wide anti -crime operation that saw large contingents of police officers from the Uniform Divisions under the command of Assistant Commissioners Leon Bethel fan out across New Providence on Friday 5th September 2014.

During the operation police targeted Persons involved in criminal activities, such and Drugs and Firearms, Persons wanted for various criminal offences, Prolific Offenders, Persons wanted for Outstanding Court Warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws.

The operation resulted in 23 persons arrested for a number of serious and minor offences. Additionally, 133 drivers cited for various traffic violations.In addition to the arrests police also seized a number of stolen properties and dangerous drugs.

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING SEVERAL ARMED ROBBERIES

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in solving three overnight arm robberies.  In the first incident, shortly after 9:30am on Friday 5th September 2014, a man was walking in the Big Pond Area, when a man armed with a handgun robbed him of a cell phone before fleeing in a black two-door ford mustang vehicle.

In the second incident, shortly before 12:00midnight on Friday 5th September 2014, a woman was at a bar located at 6th Street and Poinciana Avenue, when a man armed with a handgun robbed her of her handbag before fleeing on foot.

In the third incident, shortly after 12:00midnight on Saturday 6th September 2014, a woman was on Tonique Darling Highway, when two men armed with handguns robbed her of her white Honda Civic vehicle license number 275200 and sped off.

Investigations are ongoing in all of these incidents.

POLICE are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)
