POLICE CONTINUE ANTI-CRIME OPERATIONS ON STREETS OF NEW PROVIDENCE
Nassau, Bahamas - In keeping with their 2014 Policing Priorities, officers the Royal Bahamas Police Force continued their anti- crime operations throughout the streets of New Providence, last night.
The operation, which focuses on disrupting crime groups and targeting persons involved in criminal activity, resulted in the following success:
5 - Arrests for Armed Robbery
2 - Arrests for Stolen Vehicle
1 - Arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon
1 – Arrest for Possession of Dangerous drugs
1 – Arrest for Causing Harm
Last night’s operation was under the command of Chief Superintendent Clayton Fernander
2 ADDITIONAL FIREARMS SEIZED BY FIREARMS TRACING AND INVESTIGATION UNIT OFFICERS
Police are reporting the seizure of two more illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Wednesday 10th December 2014.
In the first incident, shortly before 12:00noon, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit acting on Intelligence went to New Hope Drive, South Beach, where they conducted a search of an old washing machine and uncovered a handgun.
In the second incident, shortly before 2:00pm, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit acting on Intelligence went to an abandoned building located at Eneas Corner off Poinciana Drive, where they uncovered a handgun.
No one was arrested for these two incidents.
POLICE are appealing to anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of wanted persons or any information about crimes and other illegal activities in their communities, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328- TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands) or the nearest Police Station.
WEEKLY PREVENTION CRIME TIP – BUSINESS OWNERS
• Keep doors and windows clear of signs and posters to allow good two-way visibility.
• Use video surveillance and make it well known.
• Make bank deposits at least once a day.
• Place a surveillance camera behind the cash register facing the front counter.
• Install an emergency (panic) alarm.
• Make your sales counter clearly visible to observers.
• A clean environment is good for business and uncomfortable for robbers.
• Keep your business well-lit inside and outside
