Nassau murder suspect taken into custody - DEU recover handgun - 11 arrests

DRUG ENFORCEMENT UNIT OFFICERS RECOVER HANDGUN

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly after 8:00am, on Saturday 24th January 2015, officers from the Drug

Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence went to Amos Ferguson Street, where they uncovered a handgun along with 4 rounds of ammunition.

No arrests were made in relation to this discovery.

11 ARRESTED DURING TWO SEPARATE POLICE OPERATIONS

POLICE are reporting the arrest of 11 persons in separate operations conducted by officers from the Southeastern Division and Southwestern Division on Saturday 24th January 2015.

The operations which are consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, targets persons involved in criminal activities, such as drugs and firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences, prolific offenders and persons wanted for outstanding criminal warrants.

During the operation conducted by Southeastern Division officers, 9 persons were arrested for various offences such as housebreaking, stealing, causing damage and outstanding criminal warrants.

During the operation conducted by Southwestern Division officers, 2 persons were arrested for housebreaking.

The Southeastern operation was under the command of Superintendent Maxine Leary-Rolle and the Southwestern operation was under the command of Superintendent Matthew Edgecombe

MURDER SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY CDU OFFICERS


According to reports, around 4:00pm on Saturday 24th January 2015, Homicide Detectives from the Central Detective Unit (CDU) took into custody an adult male for questioning reference to the murder that occurred at Hard Rock Alley on Wednesday 21st January 2015.
