SUSPECT IN MILLERS HEIGHTS SHOOTING BEING SOUGHT

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm on Tuesday 24th November 2015, a man was on a basketball court in Millers Heights, when a male with a handgun approached and shot him before fleeing on foot. The victim was transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR STOLEN VEHICLE

An adult male is in custody after he was arrested for possession of a stolen on Tuesday 24th November 2015.

According to reports, around 5:00pm, a motorcyclist from the Police Traffic Department was on routine patrol when he saw a suspicious Kia Sportage vehicle on Sandilands Village Road with no license plates attached. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped off. A chase ensued that ended on Bedford Avenue, Windsor Place, where the vehicle crashed and adult male driver fled from the vehicle. After a short foot chase the driver was arrested. The vehicle was examined and discovered to be a stolen vehicle.

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

An adult male is in custody after he was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs on Tuesday 24th November 2015.

According to reports, shortly 9:00pm, Mobile Division Officers were on routine patrol on Andros Avenue and Acklins Street, when they saw a Hyundai Elantra vehicle that aroused their suspicion. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a quantity of marijuana. An adult male driver was taken into custody for this discovery.

5 ARRESTED AND 15 CITED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS DURING 24 HOURS PERIOD

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrests of five (5) persons during the past 24 hours for various minor and major offences. Additionally, 15 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.

• Keep doors and windows clear of signs and posters to allow good two-way visibility.

• Use video surveillance and make it well known.

• Make bank deposits at least once a day.

• Place a surveillance camera behind the cash register facing the front counter.

• Install an emergency (panic) alarm.

• Make your sales counter clearly visible to observers.

• A clean environment is good for business and uncomfortable for robbers.

• Keep your business well-lit inside and outside
