RBPF Nassau: 100 lbs of marijuana found - Police search for 2 shooting and 3 armed robbery suspects

LARGE DRUG SEIZURE BY POLICE OPERATION TEAM

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner‘s Policing Priorities for 2015, shortly after 3:30pm yesterday, a team of officers assigned to a police operation team named “Operation Take Down” acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located on Ragged Island Street. During a search of the home, the officers uncovered 100 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $100,000.00 dollars. No one was arrested during this find. Police are searching for the occupants of the home.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN TWO SHOOTINGS

In the first incident, around 1:30pm yesterday, a man was standing in front of a business establishment located on Parker Street off Polhemus Street, when three men pulled up in a silver Nissan Teana vehicle. One of the men fired several shots at the victim before speeding off in the vehicle with his two accomplices. The victim was rushed to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

In the second incident, shortly after 8:00pm last night two men were at Peter Street near East Street, when they were both shot in the thigh. The men were rushed to hospital where they remain in stable condition.Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN THREE ARMED ROBBERIES

In the first incident, shortly before 1:00pm yesterday, two men were sitting in a vehicle outside of a business establishment located on East West Highway, when a man armed with a handgun robbed them of cash and two cell phones before fleeing on foot.

In the second incident, shortly after 10:00pm last night two women were walking in the Arawak Cay area, when a man in a green Honda vehicle armed with a handgun robbed them of their cell phones before speeding off.

In the third incident, around 1:00am this morning, a man was about to enter his vehicle after leaving a club on Marigold Farm Road, when two males armed with a handgun robbed him of two gold chains and a set of keys before fleeing on foot.

Investigations are ongoing in these three incidents.
