Nassau police seize 2 firearms, 1 man in custody - Drug arrest in Coconut Grove

2 FIREARMS SEIZED, ONE MAN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, Police seized two illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents and took an adult male into custody.

In the first incident, shortly before 1:00pm on Tuesday 25th October 2016, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area off Lyon Road, where they uncovered 9 – millimeter pistol. No one was arrested in this discovery.

In the second incident, shortly after 4:30am on Wednesday 26th October 2016, officers from the Central Division, acting on information conducted a search of a home located at Baldwin Avenue off Farrington Road, where they uncovered a .40 pistol with 18 rounds of ammunition. An adult male resident of the home was subsequently taken into custody.

MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Mobile Division took an adult male into custody after finding him in possession of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Tuesday 25th October 2016.

According to reports, shortly before 6:00pm, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Bahama Avenue and Fourth Street, Coconut Grove, where they saw a male acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the male and found 21 small packages of marijuana in his possession. The adult
male was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
