Man and woman arrested by mobile division officers for drug possession
A 35 – year old man and a 31 – year old woman are in custody after police arrested them for drug possession on Friday 26th September 2014.

According to reports, shortly after 12:00noon, officers from the mobile division acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at the home of the suspects located at key west street, where they uncovered one pound of marijuana. The two suspects were taken into custody are expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.

Police arrest 32 suspects as ‘Operation Lockdown’ intensifies - Police on Friday arrested 32 more persons from various parts of the island as they intensified operation lockdown, a policing strategy designed to curb the menace of criminal activity.

The operation targeted persons wanted for a number of serious crimes and persons involved in the sale of drugs and possession of firearms.

A number of the suspects are being held for armed robbery and drug possession.
The operation, which is consistent with the commissioner’s 2014 policing priorities, was under the command of assistant commissioner Leon Bethel.

Members of the public are being called upon to support police in issuing information wherever and whenever necessary on criminals and their accomplices.

Police investigate 8-year-old boy electrocution - Police has launched an investigation after an 8-year-old boy died when he was electrocuted on Friday 26th September 2014.

According to reports, around 4:00pm, the victim was along with relatives at a small resort at orange hill, when he allegedly touched an air-conditioner unit after swimming in a pool and was shocked.

The victim was transported to hospital where he later died. Investigations are ongoing.

9 Arrested overnight by Mobile Division Officers - Consistent with the commissioner’s policing priorities for 2014, mobile division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrests of nine (9) persons overnight for various minor and major offences.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call police at 919 or crime stoppers at 328-tips (8477) (new providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (family islands)
