RBPF Nassau: 2 more illegal guns recovered during anti-crime operation overnight - Handgun seized

2 MORE ILLEGAL GUNS RECOVERED DURING POLICE ANTI-CRIME OPERATION OVERNIGHT

POLICE are reporting the seizure of two more illegal firearms and the arrest of 7 persons for a number of offences including, possession of dangerous drugs, causing grievous harm and outstanding criminal warrants as they intensified their Island-wide anti-crime operation in New last evening.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, is part of the force’s strategy to cut down on criminal activity by targeting problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities such as, murder, armed robbery, rape, shootings, stolen vehicle, firearms and drugs.

During last night’s operation two firearms were uncovered:

The first discovery occurred shortly before 9:00pm, when officers from the operation team conducted a search in bushes at Montrose Avenue, where they found a handgun with 4 rounds of ammunition.

The first discovery occurred around 12:30am, when officers from the operation team conducted search of a nightclub located on Gibbs Corner, where they found a handgun with 4 rounds of ammunition in a rest room.

HANDGUN SEIZED BY POLICE

According to reports, shortly before 11:00pm on Saturday 28th March 2015, police acting on intelligence went to Joan’s heights, where they uncovered a handgun along with 4 live rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested for this discovery.
