RBPF Nassau: 36 Arrests - Firearms Seized - Drug Arrest

2 Illegal Firearms Seized by Police, 1 Suspect in Custody - Nassau, Bahamas - In the first incident, shortly around 8:30am, police received a report of gunshots being fired in the area of Okra Hill. A short while later officers from the Mobile Division arrived at the scene, where the saw a male discharging shots from a handgun. The male on seeing the police threw the handgun to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase and arrested the male who is a 17 year old of Okra Hill. The handgun containing 3 live rounds of ammunition was recovered.

In the second incident, shortly after 9:00pm, police officers were at a nightclub located at Tonique Darling Highway, when they observed a man acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the officers ran outside of the nightclub, where he threw a handgun to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the male. The handgun containing 9 live rounds of ammunition was recovered.

Police Anti-Crime Operation Yielding More Success, 1 Firearm Seized and 18 Arrested -  Police are reporting more success under their anti-crime operation – aimed at arresting persons involved in criminal activities and crime prevention.During last night’s operation police recovered a handgun and 5 live rounds of ammunition at a home located at Moncur Alley off Kemp Road. A 22 – year male was taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

Additionally, 17 other persons were arrested for a number of criminal offences to include, possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply, armed robbery and house breaking.The operation, which is consistent with the Commissioner’s 2015 Policing Priorities, was under the command of Chief Superintendent Theophilus Cunningham.

Yellow Elder Man in Custody for Drug Possession - A 25 – year old man of Yellow Elder Gardens is in custody after he was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs on Saturday 7th February 2015.  According to reports, shortly after 2:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit along with officers from the K-9 Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of the suspect located at Old Cedar Way, Yellow Elder Gardens. During the search the officers uncovered a quantity of cocaine and marijuana. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning reference to this discovery.

17 Arrested Over 48-Hours by Mobile Division Officers - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrest of seventeen (17) persons over that last 48 hours for various minor and major offences.
