RBPF Nassau: 5 armed robberies overnight - Shooting at Zirconia Court - Firearm arrest

Nassau, Bahamas - Police need the public’s help in solving several armed robbery incidents.

In the first incident, according to reports, sometime around 8:00am on Thursday 22 October 2014, two males entered a petty shop situated at McCullough Corner brandishing a handgun, held the proprietor at bay and demanded cash. The men relieved the proprietor of a small amount of cash before making good their escape on foot.

In the second incident, according to reports, sometime around 7:15pm on Thursday 22 October 2014, a lone male entered a petty shop situated at Burial Ground Corner brandishing a handgun and held the proprietor at bay demanding cash. The male relieved the store of a small amount of cash. Before leaving the store the assailant discharged his weapon into the store. No one was harmed in the incident.

In the third incident sometime around 8:15pm police received reports that a convenience store situated at Adderley Street in Fox Hill was robbed. A female customer visited the store and purchased an item and left. Shortly afterwards the female returned to the store along with two males both armed with handguns. The men held the proprietor and bay and demanded cash. They then relieved the store of cash and cell phone.

In the fourth incident, a 23yr old female resident of Andros Crescent was sitting in her Honda Accord Coupe at the residence of her male friend at Carmichael Road when three males all armed with handguns accosted them and ordered them out of the vehicle. The men relieved her of her vehicle, cash and cell phone. The males left in the vehicle.

In the fifth incident, a 36yr old male resident of Fowler Street reported that sometime around 9:45pm he was at a Junkanoo shack situated at Fowler Street when a male accosted him armed with a handgun and demanded cash. The assailant relieved him of cash and a cell phone before making good his escape on foot. Around 6:00am on Friday 23 October 2014, Enforcer Unit officers arrested a 25yr old female resident of Wilson Track for Abetment to armed robbery and a 17yr old male resident of Windsor Lane for questioning reference to this matter.

POLICE MAKE FIREARM ARREST

According to reports, sometime around 10:30am on Thursday 22 October 2014 police had occasion to stop a black Honda Accord at East Street and Soldier Road. The driver exited the vehicle and dropped a 9mm pistol loaded with eight bullets and made good his escape. Officers arrested the 29yr old male passenger of East Street South for questioning reference to this matter.


POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING

Police need the public’s help in solving an overnight shooting incident, which has left two males in critical condition.

According to reports, sometime around 10:48pm on Thursday 22 October 2014, two males ages 24 and 17 yrs of Barnes Close were sitting in a yard at Zirconia Court when a lone male entered the yard armed with a handgun. The male discharged several shots striking the 24yr old male to the chest and the 17yr old male to the mouth. Both males are listed in critical condition in hospital.

POLICE are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)
