RBPF Nassau: 6 arrested, 183 drivers ticketed - A man and woman in custody for drug possession

6 ARRESTED, 183 DRIVERS TICKETED BY UNIFORMED OFFICERS IN AN ISLAND WIDE OPERATION DURING 24 HOURS PERIOD.

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Officers from the Uniform Divisions in New Providence conducted on Tuesday 7th November 2017. Their efforts, which were intended to reduce crime, and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrest of six (6) persons for outstanding criminal warrants and Breach of the Immigration Act..

Additionally, 183 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.

A MAN AND WOMAN IN CUSTODY FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, police took a male and a female into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs Tuesday 7th November 2017.

Sometime around 9:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine mobile patrol on Market Street, when they observed a male standing next to a vehicle acting in a suspicious manner. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle occupied by the male and a female, and found a quantity of marijuana. The male and his female passenger were subsequently taken into custody and are expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.
