Nassau armed robbery suspects being sought - 13 arrests overnight

ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS BEING SOUGHT BY POLICE


Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly before 5:00pm on Saturday 26th September 2015, two men armed with a firearm robbed a liquor store located on Jerome Avenue of cash and three cell phones before fleeing on foot.

Investigations are ongoing.


13 ARRESTED IN OVERNIGHT FLYING SQUAD OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, officers from the Flying Squad conducted an operation throughout New Providence last night, that targeted persons wanted for various criminal offences.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 13 persons for questioning reference to firearms, dangerous drugs and threats of death.

CRIME PREVENTION TIP OF THE WEEK: Cell phone safety

1. NEVER POSITION YOUR CELLULAR TELEPHONE WHERE SOMEONE CAN WALK/RUN BY AND GRAB IT FROM YOU. TRY TO LIMIT EXPOSURE OF THE DEVICE, ESPECIALLY IN CROWDED AREAS.

2. NEVER LEAVE YOUR DEVICE LAYING ON A TABLE OR OPEN AREA ALLOWING SOMEONE TO WALK OFF WITH THE DEVICE.

3. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CELLULAR TELEPHONE IN OPEN VIEW IN YOUR VEHICLE WHILE YOU ARE AWAY. CRIMINALS WILL BREAK INTO YOUR VEHICLE TO STEAL THE DEVICE WHILE YOU ARE AT THE GYM, WORK, SHOPPING MALL, OR ANYWHERE ELSE YOU ARE PARKED FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME.
