RBPF Nassau: Armed robbery on Paradise Island - 2 firearms recovered - 12 arrests / 141 drivers cited

Police Recover 2 Firearms  - (Nassau, Bahamas) Police have taken two firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Saturday 12th April 2014. 

In the first incident, shortly after 3:00pm, Mobile Division Officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of a bushy area on Bunting Street off Farrington Road, where they uncovered a handgun.  

In the second incident, shortly after 6:00pm, police acting on intelligence conducted a search of a bushy area at Price Street, Nassau Village, where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

Police Seek Public's Help in Solving Armed Robbery -  Police are requesting the public’s assistance in solving an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday 12th April 2014.

 According to reports, shortly before 8:00pm three men armed with a handgun forced their way into a room of a small hotel located on Paradise Island, where they robbed three Bahamian men and two Bahamian women of and undetermined amount of cash and jewelry before fleeing on foot.

 Investigations are ongoing.

12 arrested and 141 drivers cited during separate police operations  - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2014, Officers from the Eastern Northeastern and Southeastern Divisions conducted separate police operations in their respective divisions on Friday 11th April 2014 with the intention of reducing crime and minimizing the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities.

The operations reaped the following results:

Northeastern Division Operation resulted in 7 persons arrested for various Criminal Offences and 76 drivers cited for various Traffic Violations.

Eastern Division Operation resulted in 5 persons arrested for various Criminal Offences and 10 drivers cited for various Traffic Violations.

Southeastern Division Operation resulted in 55 drivers cited for various Traffic Violations.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have any information regarding any of these incidents, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands) CRIME PREVENTION TIP OF THE DAY
