RBPF Nassau: Armed robbery suspect shot by Police - Traffic fatality leaves an adult male dead

ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT SHOT BY POLICE

According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, on Friday, 20th July, 2018, Police received reports of a male in the area of Williams Lane off Shirley Street, who was wanted by police in connection with a number of armed robberies. Police officers responded to this area and saw the suspect get into a vehicle. As officers approached, the suspect pinned them against a vehicle and pointed a firearm at them, firing it. Officers being in fear for their lives, opened fire on the suspect, hitting him to the body. Paramedics were called to the scene and attempted to revive the suspect but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was wanted by Police in connecting with a number of recent armed robberies. The vehicle that he was found in, was taken in an armed robbery. A black pistol was recovered on this scene.

Her Majesty’s Coroner visited the scene and will continue investigations into this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC FATALITY

Police are investigating a traffic accident which has left an adult male dead.

According to reports shortly after 10:00pm, Friday, 20th July, 2018, a man was attempting to cross Robinson Road in the vicinity of Washington Street, when he was struck by a red truck, which continued traveling in an eastern direction. The victim was transported to hospital by paramedics and a short time later was pronounced dead.

Police are appealing to members of the public especially persons who were in the area of Robinson Road and Washington Street, during the time of this incident and may have information that can assist in identifying the driver and locating the truck, to contact the police at 919/911, Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPD (328-8477) or the Traffic Police Station at 397-8050/1.

Investigations are being continued by officers of the Traffic Division of the RBPF.

POLICE INVESTIGATES TWO SHOOTING INCIDENTS

Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating two shooting incidents Saturday, 21th July, 2018, which left two adult male with injuries.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly before 1:00am, a man was standing in his yard on Cascarilla Street, Pinewood Gardens, when he was approached by two armed men who demanded cash. They were unsuccessful in obtaining their demand and as a result shot the man before running from the yard. The injured man was transported to hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 1:00am, a man was standing in front of his home on Royal Palm Street off Mackey Street, when the occupants of a white Nissan Note pulled up and shot him before speeding away. He was transported to hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating two armed robberies which occurred Friday, 20th July, 2018.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, a man was standing in front of his home on Ameryllis Drive, Garden Hills, when he was approached by two males, one armed with a shot gun who robbed him of a cell phone before running away.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, a woman was delivering pizza in Garden Hills, when she was approached by two men, one armed with a shot gun, who robbed her of an undetermined amount of cash, before getting into her 2008 Nissan Wing Road Van L# AR1244 and driving away.

Investigations are ongoing

ILLEGAL FIREARM AND AMMUITION RECOVERED

Shortly before 1:00pm, Friday, 20th July, 2018 Drug Enforcement Officers were on patrol on Cowpen Road, when they observed a male, who upon seeing them ran into nearby bushes. The officers gave chase, and saw when the man pulled a firearm from his pants and threw it into bushes before jumping a concrete wall, making good his escape. The officers searched the bushes and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol and 2 rounds of ammunition.

Investigations are ongoing

ILLEGAL FIREARM AND AMMUITION RECOVERED, 2 ADULT
MALES IN CUSTODY
Shortly after 4:00am on Saturday, 21st July, 2018 a police officer was on Collins Avenue in the area of a restaurant, when he heard gunshots and saw a grey vehicle speeding away. Anti- Gang and Firearms Officers who were nearby, intercepted the vehicle with two male occupants. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol and 9 rounds of ammunition. 

Both men were taken into custody and are expected to be formally charged before the Magistrate Court next week.
