RBPF Nassau: Suspect arrested after shooting death - Drug arrest - Shotgun seized

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOLLOWING A SHOOTING DEATH

Nassau, Bahamas - A 27 – year old man of Johnson Road is in custody following a shooting incident that has left one man dead on Tuesday 16th September 2014.

According to reports, shortly after 10:00am, the victim went to a residence at Johnson Road, where he got into argument with the suspect, that result in the suspect firing several shots at him, hitting him to the head. The victim was transported to hospital in a private vehicle where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police responded to the scene and pursued the suspect who led them on a high-speed chase into the Kemp Road area where the suspect crashed in a vehicle. The suspect then got into another vehicle and continued to flee from the police. However, police intercepted the vehicle in the Nassau Village area, where they arrested the suspect.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 16 –year old male of Step Street, Fox Hill in connection with this incident.

Investigations are ongoing.

DEU OFFICERS MAKE DRUG ARREST

A 40 – year old man of Opulent Road is in custody after he was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs on Tuesday 16th September 2014.

According to reports, around 9:30am, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), acting on intelligence intercepted a blue Nissan Maxima vehicle driven by the suspect at Marrow Road, Garden Hills #2. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found one pound of cocaine with and estimated street value of $12,500.00. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

POLICE SEIZE A SHOTGUN

According to reports, around 2:30pm on Tuesday 16th September 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit, acting on intelligence went to a bushy area located at Pine Crest and Bonnet Drive, where they uncovered a shotgun along with a quantity of ammunition. No one was arrested for this incident.
