BAHAMIAN MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION AT LPIA

Nassau, Bahamas - Shortly after 7am on Monday 11th December, 2017, a Bahamian man was traveling to the United States, when United States Customs and Boarder Protection Officials detained him in the US Pre-Clarence departure lounge at LPIA, after a quantity of cocaine was discovered in his luggage. The estimate weight of the cocaine is 1 ½ pounds. 

The suspect was handed over to Drug Enforcement Unit Officers and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

POLICE INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

Police in New Providence are investigating a traffic accident that has left eleven (11) persons injured on Monday, 11th December, 2017. 

According to reports, shortly before after 2:00pm, an accident occurred at the junction of East Bay Street and Mackey Street involving a L300 Taxi Van and 2003 Honda Stream car, which resulted in the van over turning. Nine (9) passengers, of the taxi along with both drivers were taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.   

Officers from the RBPF Traffic Division are investigating.  

ILLEGAL FIREARM RECOVERED

Police has removed yet another firearm off the streets of New Providence on Monday, 11th December, 2017. 

Shortly after 3:00pm Officers from the Central Division, where on routine patrol on Infant View Road, when they observed a man acting in a suspicious manner. The man, upon seeing the officers dropped a white shirtand fled. The Officers gave chase but were unable to catch the suspect.  Officers made a check of the shirt and recovered a .45 Colt Pistol along with ammunition.   

Investigation continues into this matter.
