POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN LOCATING SUSPECT IN BURGLARY AND ARMED ROBBERY

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly, before 4:00am on Friday 30th January 2015, a man was at his Monastery Park residence, when three armed with firearms forced his way into his home and woke him up. The men then robbed the victim of his black 1999 Mercedes Benz vehicle and sped off.

Investigations are ongoing.

7 ARRESTED DURING POLICE ANT-CRIME OPERATION


POLICE are reporting the arrest of 7 persons for murder, firearms and drugs as their anti-crime operation continued last night.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, targeted persons involved in criminal activities, such as drugs and firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences, prolific offenders and persons wanted for outstanding criminal warrants.

The operation was under the command of Superintendents Clayton Fernander and Theoppilus Cunnningham.

9 ARRESTED OVER 24-HOURS BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrest of nine (9) persons and the recovery of a stolen vehicle over that last 24 hours for various minor and major offences.


Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)

WEEKLY PREVENTION CRIME TIP - Car Theft

BELOW ARE SOME TIPS YOU CAN USE TO AVOID BEING THE VICTIM OF A CAR THEFT

• Never leave your car running unattended, even to dash into a business, store, etc;
• Never leave any keys in the car or ignition, inside a locked garage, or in hide-a-key boxes
• Always roll up your windows and lock the car, even if it is parked in front of your home
• Always park in high-traffic, well-lighted areas, when possible
• Never leave personal identification documents, vehicle ownership title, or credit cards in your
vehicle
• Copy your license plate and vehicle information (VIN) numbers on a card and keep them with you. If your vehicle is stolen, the police will need this information to take a report
• If your vehicle is stolen, report it to the police immediately
