RBPF Nassau: Dangerous drugs recovered - Police investigates country’s latest homicide

DANGEROUS DRUGS RECOVERED- 1 MAN IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Police took an adult male into custody, Thursday, 20th December, 2018, after suspected dangerous drugs were recovered.

According to reports, shortly before 9:00pm, Mobile Division Officers, conducted a search of a home on Johnson Terrace and recovered a quantity of prescription drugs and suspected marijuana. An adult male, who was home at the time, was taken into custody. 

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES COUNTRY’S LATEST HOMICIDE

Police on the Island of New Providence are actively investigating a shooting incident, Friday, 21st December, 2018, which has left one male dead and two others detained in hospital.  

According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, police responded to a nightclub on Malcolm Road off East Street, after receiving reports of gunshots being discharged. Officers discovered that there was an argument on the outside of the club, which escalated, resulting in three men being shot. The injured men were transported to hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries. The other two men are listed in serious, but stable condition. 

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist in solving this incident, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station. 
Investigations are ongoing.

60 DRIVERS TICKETED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS IN
PAST 24 HOUR

Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of nine (9) persons for outstanding criminal warrants and murder over the past 48 hours.

Additionally, 116 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations

  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPORTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
