POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN GIBBS CORNER SHOOTING


POLICE are seeking the public’s help in solving a shooting incident that occurred on Friday 30th January 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, police received a report that two persons were shot at Gibbs corner off East Street. When police arrived at the scene they met a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and a female suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown. Both victims were transported to hospital, where they remain in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

20 SUSPECTS ARRESTED AS POLICE ANTI-CRIME OPERATION HEATSUP

POLICE are reporting the arrest of 20 persons for various criminal offences to include, possession of dangerous drugs, shop breaking, firearms, and breach of the Immigration Act as their anti-crime operation continued last night.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner’s 2015 Policing Priorities, targeted persons involved in criminal activities, such as drugs and firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences, prolific offenders, persons wanted for outstanding court warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws.

Last night’s operation was under the command of Chief Superintendents Clayton Fernander and Theophilous Cunningham.

SOUTHWESTERN DIVISION OPERATION NETS 11 ARRESTS

SOUTHWESTERN DIVISION OFFICERS are reporting the arrest of 11 persons for questioning reference to a number of major and minor incidents to include house breaking, shop breaking and outstanding court warrants during an operation conduction in the division on Friday 30th January 2015.

The operation was under the command of Superintendent Matthew Edgecombe.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)

BELOW ARE SOME TIPS YOU CAN USE TO AVOID BEING THE VICTIM OF A CAR THEFT

• Never leave your car running unattended, even to dash into a business, store, etc;

• Never leave any keys in the car or ignition, inside a locked garage, or in hide-a-key boxes

• Always roll up your windows and lock the car, even if it is parked in front of your home

• Always park in high-traffic, well-lighted areas, when possible

• Never leave personal identification documents, vehicle ownership title, or credit cards in your vehicle

• Copy your license plate and vehicle information (VIN) numbers on a card and keep them with you. If your vehicle is stolen, the police will need this information to take a report

• If your vehicle is stolen, report it to the police immediately
