Nassau police seize firearm - 2 men in custody for drug possession

ILLEGAL FIREARM SEIZED

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities, Mobile Division officers seized another illegal firearm of the streets of New Providence on Tuesday 10th January 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 2:00pm, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol on Bay Lily Drive, where they saw three adult males who aroused their suspicion. The males on seeing the officers dropped a handgun to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the three males.
The handgun was retrieved and found to be a 9 – millimeter Glock pistol.

Investigations are ongoing.

TWO MEN IN CUSTODY FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities, Mobile Division officers took into custody two adult males after they seized a quantity of dangerous drugs in their possession in separate incidents on Tuesday 10th January 2017.

In the first incident, around 10:00am, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol on Farrington Road when they accosted a man who aroused their suspicion. The officers conducted search of the man and found 85 small packages of marijuana in his possession. The man was subsequently taken into custody.

In the second incident, shortly before 3:00pm, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol on Savannah Avenue, Sea Breeze Estates, when they accosted a man who aroused their suspicion. The officers conducted search of the man and found several packages of marijuana in his possession. The man was subsequently taken into custody.
