RBPF Nassau: Illegal Firearms Recovered - Police Investigates Shooting Incident - Police Involved Shooting

ILLEGAL FIREARMS RECOVERED

The enduring and dedicated work of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, officers were successful in recovering two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence, Thursday, 15th November, 2018.

In the first incident, shortly after 11:00am Southeastern Division Officers acting on information conducted a search of an abandon building on Sumner Street, Nassau Village and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol and a small quantity of suspected marijuana In the second incident, shortly after 8:00pm, Southcentral Division Officers, acting on information, conducted a search of a bushy area on Newbold Street off Baillou Hill Road and recovered a 12 gauge shotgun and four (4) rounds of ammunition.

No arrest was made in these incidents. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT – 1 ADULT
MALE IN CUSTODY

Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident Thursday, 15th November, 2018 which left two males in hospital.

According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, a group of men were standing in a yard on Acklins Street, when the occupants of a Silver Nissan March pulled up and opened fire in the direction of the men, injuring two of them, before speeding away. The injured men were transported to hospital and are listed in stable condition.
A short time later, police took a 22 year old male into custody in connection with this incident.

POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING

According to reports, shortly after 1:00pm, Thursday, 15th November, 2018, Police Officers responded to a disturbance report at a residence on Fox Hill Road. As officers were attempting to bring calm to the situation a male attacked one of the officers with a machete, causing injuries to him. A second officer being in fear for the life of his partner, discharged his service weapon, injuring the male. The injured man and officer were transported to hospital and are listed in stable condition. 

 Investigations are ongoing.
