RBPF Nassau: Illegal drugs seized, 1 male in custody - 51 drivers ticketed

ILLEGAL DRUGS SEIZED, 1 MALE IN CUSTODY


Nassau, Bahamas - The enduring and dedicated work of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force has led to a quantity of dangerous drugs being taken from the streets of New Providence.

Shortly after 3:00pm, Saturday, 4th August, 2018 Drug Enforcement Officers conducted a search of a home on Mosquito Drive off Fox Dale Road and recovered two five gallon buckets, which contained 25 packages of suspected marijuana.
An adult male resident of the home was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before the Magistrate Court next week.

Weight of Drugs: 18 lbs.
Valued: $18,000.00

51 DRIVERS TICKETED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 48 HOUR

Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of 23 persons for outstanding criminal warrants, assault and possession of dangerous drugs, over the past 48 hours. 

Additionally, 51 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations

HOLIDAY SAFETY DRIVING TIPS – Obey all traffic laws

  • Don’t drink, text or utilize anything that will distract you while driving.
  • Obey the speed limits and traffic signal lights
  • Be alert and ready to stop. Look out for people walking on the street, especially where there are no sidewalks.
  • Be extra cautious around pedestrian crossing, slow down and watch out for children on the streets.
  • Do not overtake, stay in your lane.
  • Remember to slow down and drive for both you and others.

HOLIDAY SAFETY SWIMMING TIPS –

  • Never leave children alone in or near water, including beaches, pools, bathtubs, sinks or toilets.
  • Ensure that children swim in designated swimming areas while at the beach or pool. Always check the depth of the water before diving. If swimming in the ocean, check the current and under-tow.
  • Be sure that every child wears proper fitting life jacket when on a boat or near water.
  • Teach children how to swim. Get professional training, but never rely solely on the swimming lessons to protect your child from drowning.
  • Learn first-aid and CPR, especially infant CPR.
