RBPF Nassau: Illegal firearms recovered - Police investigates shooting incidents

ILLEGAL FIREARMS RECOVERED

The enduring and dedicated work of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, officers were successful in recovering two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence, Saturday, 27 October, 2018.

Shortly after 8:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers were on routine patrol on Flint Street, when they observed a group of men standing in front of an abandon building. As the officers approached, the men ran from the area. Officers conducted a search of the area and recovered two (2) .40 pistols with 21 rounds of ammunition. \

No arrest was made in this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENTS

Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating two separate shooting incidents Sunday, 28th October, 2018 which left two adult males in hospital.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 2:00am, a male had just left a nightclub and was walking on Minnie Street, when he was approached by a man armed with a firearm, who shot him before running away. The victim was transported to hospital and is detained in critical condition.

In the second incident, shortly after 4:00am, a man was standing in front of a residence on Miami Street, when he was approached by a male armed with a firearm who shot him before running away. He was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
