RBPF Nassau: Illegal firearms recovered, 5 adult males in custody

ILLEGAL FIREARMS RECOVERED, 5 ADULT MALES IN

CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - The enduring and dedicated work of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, along with the assistance of members of the public has led to officers successfully recovering two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence, in separate incidents.

In the first incident, shortly after 5:00pm, Wednesday, 26th September, 2018, Drug Enforcement Officers, acting on information, conducted a search of a home at Parkway Avenue, and recovered a .380 pistol and three (3) rounds of ammunition.  

An adult male was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court later this week.

In the second incident, shortly before 2:00am, Thursday, 27th September, 2018 Mobile Division Officers were on patrol on Elizabeth Avenue when they observed a silver Honda vehicle with four males. The men upon seeing the officers, began acting in a suspicious manner. Officers were able to bring the vehicle to a stop, conducted a search and recovered a .38 revolver and 3 rounds of ammunition. 

The men were taken into custody and are expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court later this week.

SUSPECTS TO BE ARRAIGNED IN COURT

Police are pleased to report that a number of suspects will appear in the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 27th September, 2018, at 2:00pm, to be formally charged.
They are:
  • 26 year old male to be formally charged with murder, in connection with the death of Kiria Musgrove who was shot on 30th June, 2018 in Pastel Gardens.
  • 38 year old male resident of Fox Hill to be formally charged with murder, in connection with the death of Lamon Johnson who was shot on 7th September, 2018 at Dorsett Street, Fox Hill.
Anti-Corruption Department will have the following persons arraigned before the Magistrate Court;
  • 32 year old female of Malcolm Road to be arraigned on 6 counts of stealing by reason of employment
  • 42 year old male of Bacardi Road to be formally charged with possession of fraudulent documents.
