RBPF Nassau: Man arrested for drug possession - Illegal handgun seized - 27 arrested, 88 drivers ticketed

 MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION
Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, officers from the Central Division took an adult male into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Saturday 23rd September 2017.
Reports are that shortly before 3:00pm, Central Division officers were on routine patrol in the area of Prince George Wharf, when they saw a male acting suspiciously. The male was accosted and during a search a quantity of marijuana and cocaine was taken from him. The male was subsequently taken into custody.
ILLEGAL HANDGUN SEIZED
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, officers from a police special operations team seized another handgun off the streets of New Providence on Friday 22nd September 2017.
Reports are that shortly after 9:30pm, a special police operation team acting on intelligence, conducted a search of an open lot located off Bernard Road, where they uncovered a 9 – millimeter Luger pistol.
No one was arrested in connection with this find.
27 ARRESTED, 88 DRIVERS TICKETED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS DURING 48 HOURS PERIOD
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Mobile Division targeted patrols intended to reduce crime, and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities, has resulted in the arrest of twenty-seven (27) persons during the past 48 hours for, murder, armed robbery, possession of dangerous drugs, stealing, possession of stolen goods and outstanding court warrants.
Additionally, 88 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.
