RBPF Nassau: Police are investigating the country’s latest homicides - Murder suspect to be charged

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE COUNTRY’S LATEST

HOMICIDES. 

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on New Providence are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting and a stabbing incident Thursday, 3rd October, 2019 which has left two persons dead. 

According to reports, shortly before 5:00pm a group of men were at Fig Tree Court and Dorsett Street, Fox Hill, when the occupants of a Dodge truck opened fire in their direction, injuring one man, before speeding away.  The injured man was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 7:00pm, police were called to Leabert Close off Vinspen Road (Emmanuel Way) after receiving information that a woman was at that location, when she was approached by a male who was known to her, who fatally stabbed her before fleeing the area. 

Police wish to assure the public that they are aggressively on the ground in the Eastern, and South Western District pursuing leads into these matters; however police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can further assist with these investigations, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station.

MURDER SUSPECT TO BE CHARGED

Police are pleased to announce that a 24 year old male will be formally charged before a Magistrate Court at 12:00 noon Friday, 4th October, 2019 with four (4) counts of Murder and seven (7) counts of Attempted Murder. 

These charged are in relation to the deaths of Marcus Sweeting who was killed at Avocado Street, Pinewood Gardens, Dwight Miller and Jimmy Augustine who were killed at Key West Street and Franklyn Antonio Rolle who was killed at Blueberry Hill, Fox Hill. All of these incidents occurred on Friday, 6th September, 2019.

DANGEROUS DRUG, ILLEGAL FIREARM AND AMMUNITION RECOVERED

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 2:00pm, Thursday 3rd October, 2019, South Western Division Officers acting on information, conducted a search of an abandon building on Higher Drive, Miller’s Heights and recovered a .40 pistol which contained eight (8) rounds of ammunition and a small quantity of suspected marijuana.

In the second incident, shortly after 7:00pm, South Central Division Officers, were on routine patrol on Third Street off Robinson Road, when they observed a group of men standing in the vicinity of an abandon building. As the officers begin to approach, the men ran from the area, making good their escape. Officers conducted a search of the building and recovered a .38 revolver which contained five (5) round of ammunition and a quantity of suspected marijuana.

No arrest was made in these incidents. Investigations are ongoing.
