Nassau police search for 3 men responsible for 3 armed robberies - Murder suspect to be arraigned

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERIES

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are actively searching for the men responsible for three armed robbery which occurred Tuesday, 27th November, 2018.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 3:00pm, a male was at East Street and Meadows Lane, when he was approached by an armed man, who robbed him of cash, before running away.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 7:00pm, a male standing outside a residence on Lumumba Lane, when he was approached by two armed men who robbed him of his blue Honda Civic license # AJ 7503.

In the third incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, an armed man entered a laundromat on Robinson Road and Ethel Street, held an employee at bay and robbed the establishment of cash, before running away.

Investigations are ongoing.

MURDER SUSPECT TO BE ARRAIGNED

Police are pleased to announce that an adult male will be arraigned in Magistrate Court at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, 28th November, 2018 in connection with a murder investigation.

A 28 year old male will be arraigned on a charge of murder, in connection with the death of Torianno Whyte who was killed on 12the August, 2018 while at a business establishment at Kennedy Sub-Division.

DANGEROUS DRUGS RECOVERED, 3 MALES IN CUSTODY

The enduring and dedicated work of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force has led to a quantity of dangerous drugs being recovered from the streets of New Providence, Wednesday, 28th November, 2018.

Shortly after 1:00am, Mobile Division Officers, while at Baillou Hill Road, conducted a search a Nissan March vehicle and its three occupants and recovered a quantity of suspected marijuana.

The men were taken into custody and are expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court later this week.

FIREARMS LICENSING OFFICE OPERATING HOURS

The Royal Bahamas Police Force wishes to notify members of the public that it’s Firearms Licensing Office on University Boulevard will be open to customers from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am - 4pm. The office will be closed on weekends and Holidays. 

Firearm License Holders, who have not already done so, are asked to visit the office to renew their license.

All Firearms Licenses expires as of 31st December, 2018. After 14th January, 2019 a late fee will be charged at the time of renewal.

ARMED ROBBERY SAFETY TIPS –

  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPROTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.
  • Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
  • Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition
