Nassau nighclub operators arrested for breach of business license Act - Firearm seized - 6 arrested; 10 cited

OVERNIGHT FLYING SQUAD OPERATION NETS SEVERAL ARRESTS

Nassau, Bahamas - POLICE are reporting the arrest of several persons for a number of offences during an operation conducted by officers of the Flying Squad throughout New Providence last night.

The first arrest occurred shortly after 9:00pm, when Flying Squad officers arrested two males ages 25 and 22 at Dead Cat Alley for questioning reference to a number of armed robberies.

The second arrest occurred shortly after 11:00pm, when Flying Squad officers acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Thatch Palm Street, Pinewood Gardens, where they uncovered a quantity of marijuana. Three male suspects ages 25, 21 and 19 were taken into custody for questioning.

The third arrest occurred shortly after 11:00pm, when Flying Squad officers arrested a 33 – year old man of Pine Quest Street for an outstanding criminal warrant.

NIGHT CLUB OPERATORS ARRESTED FOR BREACH OF THE BUSINESS LICENSE ACT

Flying Squad officers also arrested the operators of the following night clubs for breach of the Business License Act during last night’s operation.

  • A nightclub located on Cordeaux Avenue

  • A night club located on Cowpen Road

  • Two nightclubs located on Faith Avenue

FIREARM SEIZED BY SOUTHWESTERN DIVISION OFFICERS

According to reports, shortly before 4:00pm yesterday, officers from the Southwestern Division0n Cowpen Road, where saw a male acting suspiciously. The male on seeing the officers dropped an object to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the men. The officers retrieved the object dropped by the male and found it to be a 9-millimeter handgun.

6 ARRESTED AND 10 DRIVERS CITED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS DURING 24 HOURS PERIOD


Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrest of six (6) persons during the past 24 hours for a number of criminal offences. Additionally 10 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.
