Nassau man shot at Baillou Hill Road - 11 arrests / 14 drivers cited

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN OVERNIGHT SHOOTING

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, around 11:00pm on Wednesday 25th February 2015, police received a call that a man was shot at Baillou Hill Road South. When police arrived at the scene they met a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. The man was transported to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

6 SUSPECTS ARRESTED AS POLICE ANTI-CRIME OPERATION CONTINUES


POLICE are reporting the arrest of 6 persons for various criminal offences, including possession of dangerous drugs, armed robbery and outstanding court warrants as their anti-crime operation continued last night.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner’s 2015 Policing Priorities targeted persons involved in criminal activities, such as drugs and firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences, prolific offenders, persons wanted for outstanding court warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws.

Last night’s operation was under the command of Chief Superintendents Clayton Fernander and Theophilus Cunningham.

5 ARRESTED AND 14 DRIVERS CITED OVERNIGHT BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS


Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2014, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrests of five (5) persons overnight for various minor and major offences. Additionally, 14 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.

• Keep doors and windows clear of signs and posters to allow good two-way visibility.
• Use video surveillance and make it well known.
• Make bank deposits at least once a day.
• Place a surveillance camera behind the cash register facing the front counter.
• Install an emergency (panic) alarm.
• Make your sales counter clearly visible to observers.
• A clean environment is good for business and uncomfortable for robbers.
• Keep your business well-lit inside and outside
