POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENTS

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating two shooting incidents Wednesday, 28th August, 2019, which left a juvenile male and an adult male in hospital.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, two males were standing in front of a home on Sunrise Road, Gamble Heights, when a silver Honda Accord pulled up. The occupants opened fire in the direction of the males, hitting the juvenile, before speeding away. Paramedics transported the injured juvenile to hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly a 11:00pm, a male was standing in the parking lot of a shopping plaza on Baillou Hill Road south and Carmichael Road, when he was approached by a male who shot him, before getting into a white vehicle and speeding away. The injured man was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist with these investigations, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY

Police on the Island of New Providence are seeking assistance in identifying and locating the man responsible for an armed robbery which occurred on Wednesday 28th August, 2019.

According to reports, shortly before 2:00pm, a man was walking on Shirley Street, when he was approached by an armed man, who robbed him of cash and other items before getting into a black Nissan March and speeding away.

ILLEGAL FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION RECOVERED – 1
ADULT MALE IN CUSTODY

Police have recovered two illegal firearms and ammunition from the streets of New Providence in two separate incidents, and have taken an adult male into custody,

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 3:00pm, Wednesday, 28th August, 2019 Drug Enforcement Unit Officers, acting on information conducted a search of a derelict vehicle located at the rear of a Building on Village and Wulff Roads, and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol which contained eight (8) rounds of ammunition.

No arrest was made in this matter. Investigations are ongoing

In the second incident, according to reports shortly after 2:00am, Thursday 29th August, 2019, Northeastern Division Officers acting on information while at East Street south, conducted a search of a male and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol which contained three (3) rounds of ammunition.

The male was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court this week.
