RBPF Nassau: 3 offenders in breach of Business License Act - Police send warning to Business Owners

NORTHEAST POLICE REPORT THREE OFFENDERS FOR BREACH OF BUSINESS LICENSE ACT

Nassau, Bahamas - Police in the Northeastern Division have been busy inspecting business licenses in the district and many businesses were found in breach and the owners were reported. These included service stations, liquor stores, hardware stores and electronic stores. In addition several street vendors were reported for operating without proper permits.

POLICE SEND WARNING TO BUSINESS OWNERS

Police wish to remind business owners that:


• It is an offense to operate without a valid license;

• it is an offense not to have their business license displayed conspicuously on the premises where they operate their business; and that

• It is an offense to operate a business without being properly registered with the Department of National Insurance;

• It is an offense to operate businesses beyond the times stipulated in their licenses where one exists.

Business owners who fail to comply with these rules will be prosecuted run the risk of losing their license.

IF YOU RECEIVE EMAIL PURPORTEDLY FROM YOUR BANK OR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION ASKING YOU TO UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION, DO NOT RESPOND TO IT AND DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR INFORMATION. THIS IS KNOWN AS PHISHING. (THIEVES CAN THEN GAIN ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT AND TRANSFER FUNDS TO OTHER ACCOUNTS LEAVING YOU CASHLESS).

IF YOU RECEIVE EMAIL OR FRIEND REQUEST VIA FACEBOOK INVITING YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN A CUSTOMER QUALITY SERVICE FOR WESTERN UNION OR MONEY GRAM DO NOT RESPOND TO THEM. (FRAUDSTERS WILL TRANSFER MONIES TO YOUR ACCOUNT AS ABOVE AND ASK YOU TO RATE THE SERVICE BY SENDING THE MONEY TO AN INDIVIDUAL SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD. THEY THEN GET THE MONEY AND DISAPPEAR AND YOU WOULD HAVE FACILITATED IT.) REPORT IT TO YOUR LOCAL POLICE.

POLICE are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)
