RBPF Nassau: Police foils drug operation

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are reporting the arrest of 5 adult males in connection with possession of dangerous drugs during an anti-crime operation dubbed, “Steady the Land” conducted throughout New Providence, Thursday,17th January, 2019.

Shortly after 2:00pm, the Officers from the Operations Team, acting on information went to a bushy area off Kemp Road, where they discovered five adult males. Officers conducted a search of the immediate area and recovered 40 packages of suspected marijuana, weighing 22 lbs. The men were taken into custody and are expected to be charged before a Magistrate Court next week.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner’s 2018 Policing Priority #1 Prevention and Reduction of Crime, targeted persons involved in criminal activities, prolific offenders, persons wanted for outstanding court warrants.

This operation was led by ACP Clayton Fernander, ACP Ashton Greenslade and ACP Theophilus
