POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY, 2 MEN IN CUSTODY

Quick action of Police with the assistance of a member of the public, has led to two suspects being taken into custody following an armed robbery on Sunday, 31 st December, 2017 .

Shortly before 6:00pm, two men armed with a firearm entered a convenience store on Poinciana Drive, held several employees at bay and robbed them of cash. As the men were attempting to leave the store, they were confronted by an employee who was armed with a licensed shotgun. The culprits locked themselves into a walk - in freezer . T he police was notified and arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. T he two men were taken into custody . A firearm was seized from them and all of the stolen cash was recovered.

Police will questions these men into this and several recent armed robberies.

POLICE IN SEARCH OF TWO SUSPECTS IN OVERNIGHT SHOOTING

Police have launched an island - wide manhunt for the suspect s responsible for a shooting that has left two me n in hospital on Monday , 1 st January, 2018 .

Reports are that s hortly after 12:00am , three men and a woman were standing in a yard on Pineyard Road , when t he y w ere approache d by two m e n armed with a firearm s , who fired at them, shooting two of the men before fleeing on foot. The victim s was taken to hospital where t he y remain in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

FIREARMS LICENSING OFFICE NEW OPE RATING HOURS

The Royal Bahamas Police Force wish es to notify members of the public that its Firearms Licensing Office on University Boulevard will be open to customers from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am - 4pm and on Saturdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm until further notice. The office will be closed on Sundays and Holidays.

Firearm License Holders , who have not already done so, are asked to visit the office on University Boulevard to renew their license.

All Firearms Licenses expires as of 31 st December, 2017. After this date, a late fee will be charged at the time of renewal.
