POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident Friday, 18th January, 2019, which left an adult male with injuries.

According to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, a male was walking through a track road off Dumping Ground Corner, when he heard multiple gunshots and realized that he had been shot. He was transported to hospital by Paramedics and is listed in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

2 MALES IN CUSTODY

Police have recovered three illegal firearms and a quantity of dangerous drugs, in three separate incidents, and have taken two adult males into custody.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 8:30pm Thursday, 17th January, 2019, Southeastern Division Officers, acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area off Gamble Heights and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol. No arrest was made in this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 7:00am Friday, 18th January, 2019, Eleuthera Division Officers conducted a search of a home at Grant Street, Harbour Island and recovered three packages of suspected marijuana, weighing 1.5 lbs., a .40 pistol, three (3) rounds of ammunition and $5,295.00 cash, suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

An adult male resident was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court next week.

In the third incident, according to reports, shortly after 11:00pm Friday, 18th January, 2019 Anti-Gang and Firearms Officers, conducted a search of a home in a Haitian Community on Sea Breeze Lane and recovered an unlicensed shotgun and seven (7) rounds of ammunition.

An adult male was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before Magistrate Court next week.

MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 24 HOUR 

Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of ten (10) persons for outstanding criminal warrants, stealing, indecent assault and burglary over the past 24 hours.

Additionally, 105 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.
