HOMICIDE.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on New Providence are investigating a shooting incident Sunday, 15th September, 2019 which has left an adult male dead.

According to reports, shortly before 7:00pm, a man was standing in front of a home on First Street, Coconut Grove, when the occupants of a white vehicle opened fire in his direction, hitting him about the body, before speeding away. The injured man was transported to hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist with this investigation, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY

Police on New Providence are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the persons responsible for an armed robbery which occurred on Sunday 15th September, 2019.

According to reports shortly after 11:00pm, a man was standing in front of a business establishment on Wulff Road near Jerome Avenue, when he was approached by two men, armed with firearms who robbed him of cash and other items, before getting into his silver 2010 Ford Edge vehicle and speeding away.  

Investigations are ongoing.

FEMALE ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

An adult female from Suriname was taken into custody at Bahamas Immigration Detention Center on Sunday 15th September, 2019, after she was found in possession of dangerous drugs.

According to reports shortly after 11:00am, the woman arrived in The Bahamas via Copa Airlines from Panama and was refused entry by Bahamas Immigration. She was transported to the Detention Center where she was processed and searched and found in possession of eleven (11) packages of suspected cocaine. She was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court later this week.

ILLEGAL DRUGS AND FIREARM RECOVERED- ADULT MALE IN

According to reports, shortly after 7:00pm Sunday 15th September, 2019 Flying Squad Officers acting on information, went to Spence Street, Masons Addition, where they discovered a male in possession of a small quantity of suspected marijuana and an unlicensed shot gun.

The male was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court later this week.

SAFTEY TIPS FOR MOTORISTS –

• Slow down and obey ALL traffic laws and speed limits
• Speed limits in school zones is 15 MPH from 7:30am to 9:00am and 2:30pm to 4:00pm
• Be extra cautious around school crossing areas
• When driving in school zones or in neighbourhoods, watch for children who may be in a hurry to get to school and may not be thinking of their safety
• Watch for children walking in the street, especially where there are no sidewalks. Be alert and ready to stop.
• Always stop for a school bus or jitney that has to stop to load or unload passengers.
• Before entering a pedestrian crossing area, be sure there are no children in the lane or adjacent lanes.
• When passing a parked vehicle, check for children who may run into the street
• Allow children waiting at a pedestrian crossing to cross the street
