RBPF Nassau: Police investigates armed robbery- Illegal firearms recovered - 7 male tourists arrested for drug possession

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY- 4 MEN IN
CUSTODY, ILLEGAL FIREARM RECOVERED

Police have taken four men into custody and have recovered and illegal firearm in connection with an armed robbery which occurred Friday, 15th November, 2019.
According to reports, shortly after 7:00pm, two armed men entered a home on First Street, Coconut Grove, held a male resident at bay and robbed him of cash, before getting into a brown Nissan Cube and speeding away.

Mobile Division officers responding to this incident, intercepted a brown Nissan Cube with four men on Oxford Avenue. Officers conducted a search of the men and vehicle and recovered from the vehicle a .380 pistol.

The men were taken into custody and are expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court next week.

ILLEGAL FIREARMS RECOVERED – 3 MALES IN CUSTODY

Police have recovered two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence in two separate incidents, and have taken three men into custody, Friday, 15th November, 2019

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, Mobile Division Officers were on patrol on Baillou Hill Road South, when they observed three men in a Honda Civic. The men upon seeing the officers, began acting in a suspicious manner. The officers stopped the vehicle, conducted a search of the men and vehicle and recovered a black .40 pistol which contained ten (10) rounds of ammunition.

The three men are expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court next week.

In the second incident, shortly after 10:00pm, Anti-Gang and Firearms Officers were on routine patrol in Bain’s Town, when they acted on information and a search of an abandon building on Hutchinson Street. The officers recovered a Mini Draco AK47 rifle which contained twenty-one (21) rounds of ammunition.

No arrest was made in this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

7 MALE TOURISTS ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Police have taken seven male tourist, six Canadian males and one American male into custody in two separate incidents, after they were found in possession of dangerous drugs.

In the first incident, an adult American Male was taken into custody at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) on Friday, 15th November, 2019, after he was found in possession of dangerous drugs.

According to reports shortly after 3:00pm, Airport Division Officers, conducted a search of the man who was in the departure lounge, and recovered from him six

tubes of liquid marijuana.

In the second incident, shortly after 8:00pm, Western Division Officers took six Canadian males into custody after a plastic bag with suspected marijuana was recovered from their hotel room.

The men are all expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court next week.

ARMED ROBBERY SAFETY TIPS –
  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPROTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.
  • Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
  • Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition
